A single photo (PNG, JPG, WebP) — processed privately on your device

How it works

  1. 1

    Add a photo

Drop in a single photo to measure.

  2. 2

    Set the reference

Draw a line over something whose real size you know, then type that length.

  3. 3

    Measure anything

Draw more lines to read their real-world size. Copy the numbers or save the marked-up image.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is measuring from a photo?
It gives a good estimate, not a survey-grade figure. Accuracy is best when the thing you measure sits in the same flat plane as your reference object and the photo is taken straight on. Wide angles and far-apart objects throw it off because of perspective.
Is my photo uploaded to measure it?
No. The photo is loaded and measured entirely on your own device. It never leaves your browser and no copies are kept anywhere.
What can I use as a reference object?
Anything with a size you already know that sits next to what you want to measure: a credit card (85.6 mm wide), a sheet of A4, a standard door, a tile, or a ruler in the shot. The closer it is to your target, the better.
Can I measure furniture from a photo before buying it?
Yes, and it is a common use. Put a known object in or beside the piece (a cushion, a book, a tape measure), set it as the reference, then measure the width or height to check it fits your space.
What units can I measure in?
Millimetres, centimetres, metres, inches and feet, or raw pixels. Pick the unit, set the reference length, and every other line reads out in the same unit.
